I am the author of www.FatherBaraga.org. I started this research after Father Baraga appeared to my mother and myself in the year of 2020. We were hiking the Superior Hiking Trail and completed 260 miles whike working with the Algonquin (Ojibwe) water ceremony for each major river that flowed into Lake Superior (Kitchi Gami). An injury pulled us off the trail, but allowed us the first opportunity to visit Father Baraga’s Cross. His appearance after visiting the cross officially threw me full-fledged into trying to discover why a Catholic Priest would appear to someone who had a deep appreciation for the Native traditions. As a result, the website was created to learn about the Native histories and parallel them to Father Baraga’s work with the Ojibwe and Ottawa.
